Communicate Claude's value and limitations to stakeholders

Explain Claude's benefits and limits to stakeholders honestly: quantify what was measured, say what was not, describe how the tool actually works, and keep the human role and data rules visible.

Key points

  1. 1

Pair every benefit with the core limitation: outputs are probabilistic and can contain fluent, confident errors, so facts and decisions need human verification. Say what the verification step is.

  2. 2

Never promise guarantees of accuracy or compliance. No configuration makes Claude "always accurate" or "never off-brand"; use measured results (for example 92% of drafts needed no voice edits) instead of absolutes.

  3. 3

Describe mechanisms correctly: Project knowledge is reference material Claude draws on; Claude is not "trained on" a company's documents and does not become more accurate by being used more. Memory carries context between chats; it is not learning.

  4. 4

Outputs vary between runs; a draft approved once does not certify future drafts. Claude has a training cutoff and does not monitor regulations in real time.

  5. 5

Report pilot results in full: the drafting-time saving and the unchanged review load and the correction rate. Omitting the inconvenient number misleads the decision-maker and costs trust later.

  6. 6

Recommend conclusions the data support (redeploy saved time, extend the pilot) and decline the ones they do not (headcount cuts inferred from one task's time saving, decision quality inferred from speed).

  7. 7

When claims must be evidence-based (procurement, legal review), state what was measured and how, what was not measured, and that decisions remained with staff. Resist both overclaiming and unnecessary silence.

  8. 8

Include data handling in any stakeholder briefing: which data the organisation's policy permits in prompts and knowledge, and how the plan in use handles it.

  9. 9

Claude has no knowledge of the organisation's students, customers or staff beyond what it is given; professional judgement (teachers, caseworkers, compliance staff) remains essential and should be described as such.

  10. 10

Set expectations about escalation: some needs (system integrations, agents, custom software) belong to Architects and Developers, and saying so is part of honest scoping.

  11. 11

Hiding the use of Claude is not required; describing what it does, what people still do, and the evidence is.
